Sandpaper's
level of abrasiveness is expressed in the term GRIT. The higher
the grit number the finer the finish. For example: 50 Grit paper would be very rough, used to grind a very rough surface.
This paper will leave swirl marks in the surface. 100 grit would
be used on a smoother surface. This paper will also leave swirl
marks. 400 grit would be used on a very smooth surface. Usually
to remove swirl marks left by rougher papers and finish edges of
bodywork. 600 grit is used to remove any imperfections left by the
400 grit. |
